New Testament Bible Memory Verses, Spring '10

1) John 1:1
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God,
and the Word was God.

2) Luke 2:19
But Mary kept all these things,
pondering them in her heart.

3) John 3:16-17
For God so loved the world that he gave his only Son,
that whoever believes in him should not perish
but have eternal life.
For God sent the Son into the world,
not to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.

4) Matt. 4:18-19:
As he walked by the Sea of Galilee,
he saw two brothers, Simon who is called Peter and Andrew his brother,
casting a net into the sea;
for they were fishermen.
And he said to them,
“Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.”

5) Matt. 6:19-21
Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth,
where moth and rust consume
and where thieves break in and steal,
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven,
where neither moth nor rust consumes
and where thieves do not break in and steal.
For where your treasure is,
there will your heart be also.

6) Matt 9:12-13
When he heard it, he said,
“Those who are well have no need of a physician,
but those who are sick.
Go and learn what this means,
‘I desire mercy, and not sacrifice.’
For I came not to call the righteous, but sinners.”

7) Matt. 11:28-30:
Come to me,
all who labor and are heavy laden,
and I will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you,
and learn from me;
for I am gentle and lowly in heart,
and you will find rest for your souls.
For my yoke is easy,
and my burden is light.

8) Matt 16:17-19:
And Jesus answered him,
“Blessed are you, Simon Bar-jona!
For flesh and blood has not revealed this to you,
but my Father who is in heaven.
I tell you, you are Peter,
and on this rock I will build my church,
and the powers of death shall not prevail against it.
I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven,
and whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven,
and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

9) John 8:12
Again Jesus spoke to them, saying,
“I am the light of the world;
he who follows me will not walk in darkness,
but will have the light of life.”

10) John 11:25-27 Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and whoever lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?” She said to him, “Yes, Lord; I believe that you are the Christ, the Son of God, he who is coming into the world.”
11) 1Cor. 11:23-26 For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.
12) Matt. 26:40-41 And he came to the disciples and found them sleeping; and he said to Peter, “So, could you not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray that you may not enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
13) Luke 23:46 Then Jesus, crying with a loud voice, said, “Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit!” And having said this he breathed his last.
14) 1Cor. 15:21-22 For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive.
15) Matt. 28:19-20 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.
16) 1Tim. 1:15-16 The saying is sure and worthy of full acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners. And I am the foremost of sinners; but I received mercy for this reason, that in me, as the foremost, Jesus Christ might display his perfect patience for an example to those who were to believe in him for eternal life.
17) Rom 8:28 We know that in everything God works for good with those who love him, who are called according to his purpose.
18) Phil. 4:13 I can do all things in him who strengthens me.
19) Rev. 22:20-21 He who testifies to these things says, “Surely I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus! The grace of the Lord Jesus be with all the saints. Amen.

Final Exam) The Magnificat:
My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord
And my spirit rejoices in God my Savior
For he has looked with favor upon his lowly servant.

From this day all generations will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his Name.

He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.

He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.

He has cast down the mighty from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.

He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.

He has come to the help of his servant Israel
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.
